Nutrition Needs Analysis/Metabolic Testing

Testing Procedures:

1. Pre-Test: It is important that you be able to reach a resting state during your test. You should avoid activities that will prevent you from relaxing (such as exercise or stressful situations) for at least eight hours prior to your test. Avoid eating a meal meal, as well as taking stimulants, such as caffeine,  at least 8 hours prior to your test.

2. SIT: Once you arrive, you will be able to sit comfortably while being tested. You  will place a nose clip on your nose and you will be given a disposable mouthpiece to breathe through. This mouthpiece is connected to the machine by a hose that will measure how much oxygen you are breathing out. It is very important that you breathe only through the mouthpiece, so this measurement will be correct. Both the mouthpiece and the tubing are single use items that will be used only for your test and then discarded.

3. BREATHE: Finally, you just sit back and breathe normally. The indirect calorimeter will indicate when it has calculated your metabolic rate. The test typically lasts anywhere from 12-15 minutes. The more relaxed and even your breathing, the quicker the machine will be able to determine your metabolic rate. It will then print out your results. Once testing is complete the Exercise Physiologist will review and explain the results to you.

Strength and Conditioning

Our strength and conditioning programs are designed using the latest sports science technology to improve athletic performance within the sport. Before sessions begin, each athlete will undergo our Athlete Performance Testing Battery to establish baseline strength, power, endurance, body composition, mobility, and stability. Once baseline testing is complete, we will begin working to turn your weaknesses into strengths, creating a more improved and balanced athlete.

**Strength and Conditioning sessions will be conducted at your home/apartment gym.

Virtual Personal Training

How Virtual Personal Training works:

  1. Once you book and pay for your session, you will be paired with an Exercise Physiologist, who will develop and instruct exercise sessions to help you achieve your goals.
  2. 24 hours prior to your session, you will receive a reminder email containing a link to your video meeting. At your scheduled training time, you will follow the link to your video meeting with your trainer.
  3. Your trainer will join the meeting and you will begin your virtual personal training session.

Having some resistance training equipment such as dumbbells, resistance bands, barbells, or even soup cans will allow for greater exercise variety. At an additional cost, GPI can order you a resistance band kit. The resistance band kit will be yours to keep, if you decide to discontinue training.

**For individuals who's physician prescribed  exercise/lifestyle change or those who are diagnosed with a chronic illness (Diabetes, Hypertension, Dyslipidemia, etc) ask about our Get Active program.

" Exercise is fuel for the mind and body. With each movement, the body produces endorphins which contribute to an increase in happiness. No matter the impossibilities of life, there are endless possibilities for activity to improve your mental and physical wellbeing."
